Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to support the operations team in ensuring on site adherence to a fit for purpose quality assurance framework. This role will assist in coordinating quality assessments and following up on corrective plans and initiatives that have been implemented to mitigate risks/non-adherence. The Quality Coordinator (Lab Technician) will also carry out rigourous testing on all relevant materials and will ensure that non-conforming materials are appropriately and clearly marked and reported on in each process.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs
Quality Assurance Systems and Procedures
• Assist with maintaining an operational QA Framework of practices, processes, policies and procedures, standards and controls on site of responsibility
Coordinate quality assurance assessments
• Coordinate quality assessments on specific business functions / processes
• Drive the resolution of quality issues / concerns in collaboration with the relevant manager
• Assess and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of application, operational controls, procedures and processes
• Identify weaknesses in existing practices, processes, policies and systems
• Critically evaluate controls in place, identifying risks and create suitable solutions
• In cases of non-compliance, liaise with the relevant authority for management decision making
• Successfully execute on all onsite QA activities, ensuring that all agreed standards are met
• Conduct comprehensive inspection of the final product, ensuring all quality standards are met
• Carry out effective inspection of the packaging of the final product and verification of labelling
• Conduct effective inspection of Incoming Raw Materials and Incoming Packaging Materials from suppliers to ensure that they meet agreed quality standards
• Carry out testing on all materials in each process to ensure conformance to required standards
• Ensure non-conforming materials are correctly identified, marked and reported on
Follow-up and monitor the implementation of corrective plans and initiatives
• Provide regular updates on all corrective plans and initiatives being implemented
• Assist with maintaining the quality register
• Support to implement corrective plans and initiatives where required
• Escalate any recurring deviations and/or non-compliance issues at the appropriate next level

General Operational Contributions
• Ensure Adherence to all applicable Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Standards
• Actively participate in operational planning and reporting processes
• Drive continuous improvement through streamlining and optimising relevant operational practices, processes and tools
• Adhere to operational and financial frameworks of practices, processes, standards and controls
• Control cost and take the necessary action to mitigate any financial risks or non-compliance

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelors Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 (Essential)
• Up to 4 years experience (Operational Execution)
