Our opportunity

The Bryte Insurance Pricing Team services all short term insurance market segments for the company, i.e. Commercial, Personal Lines and Corporate. We price all lines of business, e.g. property, motor, engineering, transport, liability, etc. We are well progressed in developing a new integrated pricing engine, including price monitoring and deployment capabilities.

We are looking for suitably enthusiastic and capable candidate to join our General Insurance Pricing team. As Actuarial Team Lead of Price Implementation & Production Monitoring you will be tasked to lead the liaison and engagement of business, Information Technology, and project teams. The price implementation function supports the IT run and project teams with specifications, testing and query handling. The production monitoring function develops specifications for monitoring dashboards and prepares in production price monitoring reports as a critical control function.

The team are the custodians of automated underwriting design and specification. As such it plays a critical role in design and developing for the future and bringing down underwriting costs and expenses. Your automation and analytical skills would be required to diagnose problems, design and specify solutions, test and monitor the outcome.

You will track the transaction volumes and process flows, monitoring adherence to designed outcomes, as well as identify and trigger needed interventions, be it required from Pricing, Information Technology or Business. You will on monthly and quarterly basis draft and submit activity tracking reports.

You will represent Pricing on various Bryte Information Technology forums. As such you will be an influential voice in both the technology and underwriting community. Within Pricing you will rub shoulders and coordinate efforts with other team leaders and mangers of the Data, Modelling, and Portfolio Analytics functions.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

General level of your contribution

•Oversee the provide pricing services with minimal supervision by Head of Pricing
•Perform analyses as assigned in consultation with Head of Pricing
•Research and implement new pricing disciplines and procedures.
•Actively pursue actuarial qualification and achieve regular progress in exams.

Role specific – Team Leader

As team leader you will work closely with the Head of Pricing to perform key oversight functions for staff reporting into you, which include:

•Draft contracts for team members and ensure they are captured on the relevant system
•Regularly prioritise work and track progress – take corrective action when needed
•Coordinate staff development, e.g. organising necessary training
•Coordination of study leave and adherence to Actuarial Development Support Programme
•Perform general quality assurance of team output
•Drafting of management reports and present results at management meetings
•General absence management and tracking

Role specific – Responsibilities

•Development and testing of integrated rules engine, working closely with project team
•Improve underwriting automation, working closely with regional managers
•Implement renewal strategy and new pricing bases, working closely with the pricing team
•Design tracking dashboards and submit tracking reports, highlighting process deviations
•Play active and leading role in operational underwriting forums and business review groups
•Your function in terms of governance are responsible for several key underwriting controls

Ad Hoc Support

•Various analysis and reports of in production price performance themes


•This is a pivotal role in Bryte, very few teams are not engaged with

Qualifications &Experience


•University degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
•Evidence significant exam progress towards qualifying as an actuary

Experience & Skills:

•Proficiency in English
•3 to 5 years actuarial pricing experience
•Communicating complex ideas, using effective report writing and presentation skills
•Ability to extract and summarise data using SAS or equivalent like SQL
•An Advantage:
oAbility to program in VBA, Python and/or R
oExperience using QlikView or equivalent visualisation solution
oAt least 3 years general insurance price modelling, case underwriting or portfolio management experience
