Introduction
Core purpose of the role

The management of the logistics company (SMD Logistics) including, but not limited to Financials (budgeting and performance), Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, contracts as well as tenders, manage staff as well as own fleet and contractors. Responsible for all reporting requirements (financial and operational) to all stakeholders of the Company.

Finance
•Financial budgets

Operations
•The presentation and explanation of operational reports including capacity utilisation and individual truck and contractor performance.
•Ensuring adherence to all contractual obligations by maintaining and improving the SMD service offering, according to average Turn Around Times (TAT) and individual instances
•Managing overheads to be within budgeted plans for the Financial year

Projects and Plans
•Be responsible for the successful roll-out and monitoring of the B-BBEE initiatives impacting the SMD Logistics division
•Implementation and change management of the projects
Execute the role, responsibilities and duties as a member of the project team tasked





Operational processes
•Ensuring that business processes in area of responsibility are optimised
•Ensure all processes are followed at all times
•Improve processes where needed

External customers
•Expand and grow external business
•Ensure that all employees are trained and aligned to support and enhance customer service processes and initiative

Internal customers
•Create and maintain exceptional service delivery to all stakeholders, in matters relating to suppliers

Suppliers (Mutually beneficial relationships)
•Ensuring the successful on-boarding of all new suppliers
•Leveraging from the existing supplier base to increase the SMD market share
•Ensure effective and seamless operations between SMD and the vehicle holder to improve turnaround times and effectiveness through the establishment of good relationships

People Management
•Provide clear direction and decisive leadership of staff, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purpose
•Set clear defined performance standards/targets for staff
•Create and maintain a constructive atmosphere within the team, engaging and motivating them
•Ensure that staff adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work
•Ensure that the SMD value system is communicated

Requirements
•Matric Certificate
•Business Management / Related Tertiary Education
•Drivers Licence
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Fleet / Logistics/Automotive industry
•Proven minimum of 4 years management experience
•Proven track record of driving sales and operations. Able to pull diverse teams together to reach Business Strategy and goals
•Able to understand, as well as implement Business and Group Strategy, into action plans

Advantageous:

•Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration will be advantageous
•Proven track record of working within cross-functional teams
•Insurance background
